SANTA CAKE

This week was an interesting one. Jaclyn and I had the opportunity to teach all of the Young Women in the ward to make cakes out of fondant. It was really fun and all the YW had a blast. We also made a huge mess with powdered sugar all over the church. I decided to make an example to take with us so this is what we came up with.
Interestingly enough, Jaclyn went to bake the cake for us to use, but accidentally put 6 cups of batter into a two cup batter pan. As you can imagine, as the cake cooked in the oven, it expanded and overflowed, everywhere. Any who, we decided to build the cake on styrofoam. It turned out great and was fun to make. I think we are getting better at this.
Here are a few cakes that some of the YW made. They had had fun with painting their cakes with water so that they would become shiny.

MMMM MMMM Cake

On Sunday night we helped make my sister Brittney a cake for her Young Women in Excellence Night. Her theme is that they have "Souper YW". I think the cake turned out pretty great. Finally after doing cakes for a year, I think we kind of know what we are doing now. The best part was the noodles and chunks of chicken which looked pretty wet, real, and disgusting!
