Birthday cake!

This last week we made a cake for our Bishop's daughter, Hayliann. It was her 14th birthday on Saturday. Ryan had made a deal with them that if they would make Ryan's birthday cake, then we would make Hayliann's birthday cake. It turned out to be really awesome. If I were to have made a cake for me, for my birthday, it would have looked a lot like hers.
We surprised her with the cake and she had no idea how it was going to look. This is her right after she saw it for the first time.

We tried to put everything Hayliann on it. It was her cake, about her. We put a softball (she loves to play and is really good!), a frog, a high heeled shoe, make-up, a microphone (she loves to sing), piano keys (she is extremely talented) and a Y, daisy's and it said Hayliann 14 around the bottom tier of the cake. Brooke (her mom) had a hard time when they started to cut into it and eat it. She had helped decorate the cake and baked the two bottom tiers. Sometimes it feels as though you have created a masterpiece and now it's just going to get eaten. I don't struggle with it anymore, but I do know how she feels.

Saturday night, Tom and Brooke took us out to dinner for having made the cake. We also went with some other friends, Jennie and Ken. After dinner, we went to Jennie and Ken's house to play some cards and just enjoy each others company. We played phase 10, which can be very frustrating at times. So of course, there was card throwing an occasional yell of frustration and rivalries. I could have asked for it to go any better. I had so much fun. Seriously, thanks guys for a wonderful birthday!!

RAINBOW BRIGHT

What a Weekend! Last Friday was the start of all that was not fun! Sickness has filled our house and left it's mark. Last Friday, I woke up super sick and wondered who beat me with a sledge hammer in the middle of the night. It was a long, long, need I say long, day. The following day I felt better, but not my best. We had paid for a Valentines dinner and dance months ago and knew we needed to go. We had a lot of fun with friends in the ward. There was lots of cinnimon bears, music, dancing, weird food, and a photo booth.

The next couple of days Peyton spent them super sick. It is so hard to have a little one sick all night. She has been very clingy towards Jaclyn. Every night when she cries we pose the question, "Did she just wake up, and we need to leave her so she can fall back asleep, or is she swimming in her puke and we need to rescue her?" It makes it hard to keep her on a schedule. Finally on Monday we got up feeling better and competed in our first "At Home Food Network Challenge." Just kidding, it just felt that way, knowing we had about 4 hours to make a cake. It is not the best cake we have ever made but, trying to make a 3D rainbow is not easy. We like how it turned out, but felt it could have been better with more time. I am still trying to figure out why anyone would want a rainbow cake???

Just an FYI, Jaclyn got super sick on Tuesday!! We wish this upon no one!

Snowmobiling

This past weekend we had the opportunity to go snowmobiling and sledding with our friends (Jake and Jen, Brittney and Brent) and Jake's parents. It was so much fun. Ryan and I have not had such a relaxing fun time in a long time and both needed it.

(The boys getting the run-down on the snowmobiles)We went up to our friends cabin. You have to snowmobile in and out. The kids had so much fun. (Extra thanks to Ryan's mom and brother for watching Peyton!)
(The girls playing in the snow while waiting to get going.)(Sweet little Oaks)

(On our way up.)

Once up at the cabin we went in and Jake's dad got the fire started and we all ate lunch. After lunch we went back out to sled. We would sled down the hill and then snowmobile back up. I'm not sure why we have ever been sledding any other way. It was a lot of fun. After sending all the kids down the hill Brittney and I took turns jumping into the snow. There was so much powder. If you were to try to walk off of the snowmobile path, you would sink to your waist. The snow was so deep. It amazed me that at the bottom of the canyon there was no snow and then there was so much at the cabin.

(Brent and Oaks coming back up.)
(Oaks and Chloe going back down.)
Brittney and I were having a race down and accidentally got turned around trying to pass each other and ended up going down backwards. It was so rad!
Braxton kept going so fast and one of the times he got some big air. After that he asked Brent to stop him at the bottom.
(Brent and Brax with Brittney taking a picture.)
(Chloe just wanted to eat the snow. Silly girl.)

(Chloe, Cole, and Jake)
(Ryan is at the top of the sledding hill. Yup, that little dot is my husband.)

After sledding for a bit, Jake's dad- Jerry, took me for a ride. We went off a jump and went completely vertical. After landing we hit a tree, thankfully it wasn't very big. It was so awesome. Everyone, including Jerry, thought I was going to fall of the back for sure, but I didn't. I was so proud of myself for doing something so adventurous. I normally would've had a panic attack. Brent then took his turn off the jump after which he got the snowmobile stuck. Then, it was Ryan's turn. From what I hear, he got the second best air, after Jerry and I. Ryan followed Brent's tracks and ended up rolling the snowmobile. It was more of a tip, but I think it sounds better to say he rolled it.

After playing in the snow for so long and after I white-washed Braxton for being naughty (Pace parenting style) we went in to get dry. We were not cold, just wet.

(Brent(?) getting some air.)

After playing a never-ending FUN game of phase 10, we had dinner, cleaned, and packed up. We then snowmobiled out in the dark. Chloe fell asleep on the snowmobile just after we started going. At the end of the day, I wanted my own snowmobiles. We are hooked!!
