This last week we made a cake for our Bishop's daughter, Hayliann. It was her 14th birthday on Saturday. Ryan had made a deal with them that if they would make Ryan's birthday cake, then we would make Hayliann's birthday cake. It turned out to be really awesome. If I were to have made a cake for me, for my birthday, it would have looked a lot like hers.
We surprised her with the cake and she had no idea how it was going to look. This is her right after she saw it for the first time.
We tried to put everything Hayliann on it. It was her cake, about her. We put a softball (she loves to play and is really good!), a frog, a high heeled shoe, make-up, a microphone (she loves to sing), piano keys (she is extremely talented) and a Y, daisy's and it said Hayliann 14 around the bottom tier of the cake. Brooke (her mom) had a hard time when they started to cut into it and eat it. She had helped decorate the cake and baked the two bottom tiers. Sometimes it feels as though you have created a masterpiece and now it's just going to get eaten. I don't struggle with it anymore, but I do know how she feels.
Saturday night, Tom and Brooke took us out to dinner for having made the cake. We also went with some other friends, Jennie and Ken. After dinner, we went to Jennie and Ken's house to play some cards and just enjoy each others company. We played phase 10, which can be very frustrating at times. So of course, there was card throwing an occasional yell of frustration and rivalries. I could have asked for it to go any better. I had so much fun. Seriously, thanks guys for a wonderful birthday!!
