Last is Best of All the Game

Well I finally am getting around to telling OUR Christmas story. Like many of you our Christmas morning was one to remember. Jaclyn and I had a great idea of after putting the kids to bed on Christmas Eve that we would also go to bed and then get up early Christmas Morning and put all the present and stockings out, including those from Santa. Well the morning rolled around and the alarm went off at 6am, and me being who I am hit the snooze a few times. We finally got out of bed at 6:15am and put all of the presents and things under the tree. Soon after Jaclyn got out the camera to take a few pictures and it happened... the power went out! We called the power company knowing only half the neighbor hood lost power and the recording said to check the fuse box, so as I contemplated going door to door and asking everyone to check their fuse boxes, Jaclyn reported the outage. We got ready with flash lights and cold water. As the morning continued we soon realized that all the of air in the house was rising to the top floor, which is not where the tree was at. By 8:30am it was light enough to see and cold enough to see your breath in the house. We decided to get the kids up and do presents. The kids were super excited to see that Santa had come and brought them things. No sooner had we gotten downstairs then Braxton's teeth started to chatter, it was then that we decided to open gifts while sitting under blankets. We had a blast and the kids had some much fun, and loved their gifts!! As soon as we got done with the presents the fire alarm started going off. I went to the basement and realized that something smelled a little funky. Also due to the high winds and snow the basement was starting to leak and flood. The wind had pushed snow down the basement vent that goes outside to keep the furnace cool. I put on some snow gear and had to trudge through 3-6 feet of snow (depending on the drift) into the backyard to close off the vent. Well, to end this super long story, our water heater pilot was blown out causing the fire alarm to go off. So we with my dad's help we got that restarted and then we able to go forward with Christmas. At least Christmas morning will be one to remember!!! Here our a few pics of our fun. Also WARNING on the last one!! I had to put it in. Chloe tried to put her pull-ups on herself, and ran across a small problem...

LOL. That is great! The power was out here too. It didn't get too cold to handle before the power went back on. But then we got ready and got in the car to go to my mom's and we got stuck in the middle of the street and bagged it. Fun. It turned out to be a fine Christmas though.
