I feel like there is so much that has happened since our last post. I'll start with first things first. Peyton is learning how to feed herself. It is so nice to have a little freedom but I am really going to miss nursing. Nursing started to make me sick and she started to need to nurse every 1-2 hours 24/7. It was killing me. We started giving her bottles except for at night, and now she sleeps from 11 p.m.- 8:30 a.m. which is just fabulous. I'm starting to feel like I can function again. (I don't do well without sleep.)
Ryan had President's Day off and we wanted to do something fun with the kids so we decided to spend the money and go to Discovery Gateway. First you have to know that the kids had a lot of fun, but it was not worth it. A few years ago, we went to Seattle and went to their museum, and I think I keep comparing it to that. The one in Seattle was awesome. So the one at gateway seemed a little lame, especially for the money. If I wanted to spend $40 to play Lincoln Logs, I would have just bought some. Having said that, I'm sure we will go back. Apparently we went on one of the busiest days of the year. So all the older kids (5-11) just kept pushing the little kids out of the way. Some parents thought that it was a babysitting joint. Ryan told some kid to get off the top of the helicopter (he was hanging from the blades!!) and he told Ryan he could do whatever he wanted and that it was "like his third time". It was really hard to teach Braxton and Chloe that you have to wait your turn when the older kids would just push them out of the way and butt to the front of the line. The thing that made me the most angry (I have never wanted to hurt a little kid before), was at the very end I gave Braxton a penny to put in one of those things (where it spins around and around until it finally goes in the hole at the bottom) and some little boy, he couldn't have been older than 4, comes and starts pushing Braxton out of the way because he wanted to see the penny. So I told him to be nice to Braxton. Two seconds later, I look over and the kid smacks Braxton across the face. Well, Braxton was so shocked he just stood there and looked at the kid, so the kid smacked him again, harder!! When Braxton still didn't get mad or cry the kid wound up and smacked him even harder. I yelled at the kid and told him we DON'T HIT. It was so hard to contain myself. So that was our trip to Discovery Gateway. If you ever go, make sure it's not on a busy day so that your kids can actually play with the stuff without getting beat-up.
Here's some pictures I took today that were pretty funny. Chloe found my chocolates and fell asleep in Peytons play thing. They're pretty funny. Enjoy!!

I love that you can still see the kid on top of the helicopter in that one photo. That is so frustrating when places are so crowded. Oak loved that museum but it was not busy then, so you will have to try going on a less busy day. I cannot believe that little boy hitting Brax, good work with your self control. Just remember that old saying, What goes around, comes around!!! So, Karma will most likely get him soon!!!!!!
You look so great dressed up for the dance. I'm proud of your restraint when that kid slapped Braxton. I'm afraid I would have tried to slap him or find his mom and slap her!
You look so cute in those first pictures, Jacklyn.
I would've slapped that kid myself for hitting my kid... okay probably not for fear of charges and being a terrible example to my son, but I sure would have wanted to. Doesn't it make you so mad at other parents though! Talk about irresponsible parenting, where was this kids mother during this punching Braxton fest?
Cute pictures and date night pictures! I remember the first time someone was mean to 2 year old Calvin. We (both Calvin and I) started bawling and it still breaks my heart when I think about it!
